Denmark's Queen Margrethe II has inaugurated yesterday the new metro Cityringen in Copenhagen. The new line (M3) contributes the sustainable mobility of the Danish capital which has the ambitious target to be the world’s first carbon-neutral capital city by 2025. Metro Cityringen encircles the centre of the city with 15.5 km of tunnel and 17 new underground stations. The fully automated driverless metro system will operate 24 hours a day, with a minimum frequency of 100 seconds, guaranteeing efficient mobility for 130 million metro passengers a year.
The two contractors Hitachi Rail STS for the transportation systems and the Copenhagen Metro Team - CMT for the civil works stared the works in the 2011 under the direction of Metroselskabet. GESTE has been involved in the project since 2014 as partner of CMT. GESTE has covered the role of verifier of the ventilation analysis as well as the role of RAM and Technical Safety Manager contributing to the preparation of the safety documentation required by the National Safety Authority to achieve the final approval for the opening of the line.
GESTE is proud to have contribute to one of the major metro project in Europe providing its expertise for safe and sustainable mobility.
